As January arrives, it’s the perfect time to look back on a fantastic and action-packed summer for C/SRS Churchill. Since the boats were launched in May, the Crew has achieved a huge amount — from evenings on the water and new skills being mastered, to fundraising successes, community events, and proud moments both on and off the water.

Over the summer, Cadets and Sea Rangers made the most of long evenings on the water, enjoying rowing, kayaking and paddleboarding sessions, with plenty of laughter and teamwork along the way. Thanks to generous donations from the Brixham, Paignton and Devon Freemasons, along with a Crew fundraising coffee morning, C/SRS Churchill raised enough money to purchase eight stand-up paddleboards, opening up even more opportunities for fun and skill-building on the water.

As confidence grew, the Crew worked hard on developing new paddleboarding skills — including the tricky art of balancing, standing up and paddling (sometimes all at once!). There were also opportunities to enjoy time ashore, with swimming sessions, team-building activities, and evenings spent working towards the Big Splash Challenge Badge.

The Crew also got involved in local community events, running stalls and activities that helped collect funds for the RNLI and spread the word about Sea Rangers. These events were a great chance for Cadets and Sea Rangers to build confidence, practise communication skills, and represent the organisation with pride.

The term ended on a high with Halloween celebrations, complete with decorations, spooky stories and plenty of games!

More recently, SRS and CSRS Churchill proudly represented Sea Rangers at Remembrance events. The Crew received many compliments for their smart turnout, respectful behaviour and positive attitude — a real credit to everyone involved.

From new activities and fundraising successes to community involvement and teamwork, it has been a season full of achievement and memories. We’re incredibly proud of everything C/SRS Churchill has accomplished and are already looking forward to what the next year will bring.
