In July 2025, Sea Rangers were proud to support the Thames Traditional Boat Festival, following a kind invitation from Lady McAlpine.
Across a beautiful summer weekend, Cadets, Rangers and Officers took on a range of duties to bring the event to life. Among these was hosting a Sea Rangers information stand in prime position at the festival entrance, where members welcomed visitors and shared the story of the organisation and its work.
A particular highlight was the display of the newly restored Waterwitch rowing gig. Positioned prominently at the stand, she drew considerable interest from festival-goers — and we were delighted to be visited by a former Sea Ranger who shared fond memories of rowing her. It was a touching reminder of the boat’s long history and the experiences she has given to generations of members.
On the Sunday, several girls were invited to join one of the historic vessels in the parade — an honour they embraced with enthusiasm. The boat’s owner was generous in his praise, describing the girls as a real credit to the Association and commending their professionalism throughout!
The weekend offered a wonderful opportunity to represent Sea Rangers, connect with the public, and celebrate our shared maritime heritage. Our thanks go to the festival organisers and to every member who gave their time across the weekend!
